Martin had just received his brand new drivers license. The family troops out to the driveway and climbs in the car, where he is going to take them for a ride for the first time. Dad immediately heads for the back seat, directly behind the newly minted driver. "I'll bet you're back there to get a change of scenery after all those months of sitting in the front passenger seat teaching me how to drive," says the beaming boy to his father. "Nope," comes dad's reply, "I'm gonna sit here and kick the back of your seat as you drive, just like you've been doing to me all these years." 마틴이 갓 운전면허증을 따 오자 식구들이 첫 시승을 위해 밖으로 몰려나가 자동차에 올라탔다. 아빠는 곧바로 운전석 바로 뒷자리로 향했다. "지난 몇 달 동안 앞자리에서 저한테 운전을 가르쳐 주실 때와는 다른 자리에 앉고 싶으셔서 그리로 가신 거죠?"기쁨에 찬 얼굴로 아들이 아버지에게 말하자 아버지가 답했다. "천만에. 지금까지 수 년 동안 네가 그랬던 것처럼 나도 네가 운전하는 동안 운전석 뒤를 걷어 차려고 그런다."
